VSD Home Page | The Mac Center's purpose is to provide an orientation for new students entering McLoughlin Middle School. A new student spends his or her first couple of days being tested, learning school rules, getting materials organized, touring the school, and learning how to get around according to Mac's bell schedule. Students provide writing samples for both math and language arts that help teachers evaluate their strengths and weaknesses quickly. The Mac Center is designed to help new students feel "at home" before they begin their regular class schedules. The Mac Center has been recognized by the Vancouver School District as a distinguished and innovative program that helps kids "get off on the right foot" as they begin their McLoughlin careers.
